Soon to be reopened in the capital, the bar and restaurant terraces are the subject of negotiations between the town hall, residents and managers of establishments. They should soon be able to request extensions on dedicated software, according to our information.

After the announcement of phase 2 of the deconfinement, bars and restaurants should be able to reopen on Tuesday in the green zone. In the orange zone, only the terraces will be authorized to reopen, respecting the barrier gestures. In this context, each square meter gained by restaurateurs represents additional customers. To help them, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo said she was in favor of extending the terraces in the capital. According to information from Europe 1, negotiations are in full swing between the town hall, establishments and residents.

On sidewalks and delivery places

The town hall wants to set up a software on which the owners of bars and restaurants will be able to make free their request for extension or even outright creation of terrace. They could thus settle on the sidewalks, delivery or parking spaces, or even on the opposite sidewalk. Some streets can even be fully pedestrianized from 7 p.m., especially the narrow streets with lots of bars and restaurants. Above all, these measures could remain in place until September to help professionals in the sector.

However, not all requests can be accepted. The nuisances for the daily life of residents will be taken into account. A place to circulate on foot, with a stroller or a wheelchair, will be necessary.

The closing times of the terraces are another point of tension which is the subject of negotiations. Local residents begin to worry about possible noise pollution, from Tuesday. They demand that the doors be closed at 10 p.m. Professionals in the sector would like to be able to push until midnight or even an hour, especially if the good weather continues.
