▲ Boston Marathon held in 2018

The Boston Marathon, one of the 'Four Major Major Marathon', was canceled due to the Corona 19 incident.

The Boston Athletics Federation says it will cancel the Boston Marathon, which was scheduled to take place on September 28th (local time) this September.

"To protect the health of the community, as well as staff, participants, volunteers and supporters," said Tom Grilk, CEO of the Boston Athletic Federation.

Instead, the Boston Athletic Federation decided to host an online event where participants in the competition completed and certified 42.195km each.

The Boston Marathon was canceled for the first time in 124 years.

The Boston Marathon was scheduled to be held on April 20 this year, but was delayed to September 14 due to the Corona 19 incident.

However, the Boston Athletic Federation decided to cancel the tournament in the fall when it was determined that Corona 19 would not be fully resolved.

In addition to the world-class marathon runners, about 30,000 public members participate in the Boston Marathon.

The Tokyo Marathon, held in March, was held only for 200 marathon players, excluding 30,000 amateurs.

Mayor Marty Walsh also expressed his opposition to the way the tournament was held, except for the amateur participant: "The Boston Marathon is everyone's participation."

The Boston Marathon skipping this year will be held on April 19 of next year.
