The American embassy in Israel has warned American citizens against traveling to the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, noting the possibility of violence, in light of Israeli preparations to annex Palestinian lands.

"We advise American citizens residing in the West Bank and Gaza or who are considering traveling to them to maintain a high degree of vigilance, and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness," the embassy said in a statement posted on its website.

The statement pointed out the possibility of violent actions targeting tourist sites, transportation centers, government checkpoints, as well as markets, shopping facilities and government facilities, without prior notice.

And the private Israeli "Channel 12" mentioned that the American embassy warned its citizens, in light of Tel Aviv's willingness to annex Palestinian lands to its sovereignty.

And at the end of last April, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed with the leader of the Blue and White Benny Gantz party, that the process of annexing large parts of the West Bank begin next July, and includes the Jordan Valley and all Israeli settlements of strategic importance in the West Bank, and that According to US President Donald Trump's plan for peace in the Middle East.

Palestinian estimates indicate that the annexation will cover more than 30% of the West Bank.

The Israeli plans provoke widespread anger at the regional and global levels. There are fears of a volatile situation in the region if the Israeli government goes ahead with its plans. The government plans to introduce the legislation on annexation to the Knesset in early July.
