It is probably due to a changed behavior in the community that Sahlgrenska University Hospital is now again seeing an increase in the influx of corona patients. It states the hospital in a press release.

- On behalf of the hospital, I really want to urge the public to take the recommendations of the Public Health Authority seriously. Keep a distance, do not stand and crowd in bars, keep distance in business and do not move unnecessarily in the community. And use hand spirit and wash your hands frequently, says Thomas Brezicka, chief physician at Sahlgrenska.

He also emphasizes that everyone is vulnerable when it comes to covid-19, and that most of those posted are under 80 years.

- So this does not only apply to the craziest fellows. Everyone is responsible for keeping down the spread of infection and must contribute.

Many are waiting

So far, the hospital has been able to provide care to anyone who needs it, he continues. But if the curves do not go down now to the summer, which is their most strained time, the hospital will end up in a very difficult situation. Important surgeries will be pushed further, such as cancer. Lotta Wassén, surgical resource in the joint special care management team, says:

- It is very important that the spread of infections and inpatients for covid-19 is reduced, so we can get started with the usual care with as short queues as possible.

There are also many people waiting to get their "regular" operations done.

- Lots of people are waiting for surgery for incontinence, incontinence, hips, knees and so much else, as we usually do every day.
