The Le Mans football club, relegated to National after the refusal Wednesday of the French Football Federation of a League 2 to 22, separated on Thursday from its coach Réginald Ray, who will have directed only one match.

"Le Mans FC is now looking for a new coach to prepare for the next exercise without further delay," the club said in a statement.

Former striker of the club, with whom he was crowned top scorer of D2 in 1998, Réginald Ray and his assistant Didier Bouillot arrived in late February, after the dismissal of Richard Déziré, who had allowed the club to win three divisions in three years.

Appointed for four months, Ray's mission was to revive the team, which was struggling in the bottom of the ranking.

His first match, on March 6 in Chambly, will remain marked by a double frustration: first because the Manceaux, who played 11 against 10 and led 2-0 to 25 minutes from the end of the match, saw their opponents return at 2-2 and dropped two precious points.

Then, because the spread of the new coronavirus led to the suspension of the championship in the days that followed, then to its stop, leaving Le Mans 19th tied for points with Niort but exceeded due to a more unfavorable goal difference .

Wednesday, the club had raised the possibility of appeal against the decision of the federation, while announcing to prepare the next season, without much illusions on the possibility that a decision intervenes in time to restore the club in L2.
