The European professional golf circuit (EPGA), stopped since March 8 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will resume on July 22 with a series of six tournaments in six weeks in Great Britain, announced Thursday the instance.

The resumption will take place behind closed doors and the new calendar will extend until December. The exact tournament schedule from September will be announced later, but four Rolex Series tournaments, events offering at least $ 7 million in prize money, have been rescheduled.

This is the Scottish Open, now scheduled from October 8 to 11, the BMW Championship from October 15 to 18, as well as the last two tournaments in this category, the Nedbank golf challenge from December 3 to 6 and the DP world tour championship, which closes the Race to Dubai, from December 10 to 13.

"All tournaments will be subject to strict security guidelines and protocols for detecting" the virus from players, insists the EPGA in its press release, stating that these guidelines would evolve gradually as a function of international health measures.

The PGA, the main professional circuit, must resume, also behind closed doors, on June 11 with the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas.
