The mother began by giving her own view of the time leading up to Esmeralda's death. She described how happy she was when Esmeralda moved home but also a stressful time where the family was constantly being monitored by authorities.

"You are being judged and judged all the time," she said, and told, among other things, about the reports of concern that were made about Esmeralda.

According to the mother, both she and her father had a bad time before Esmeralda died and both must have taken different drug-classified substances.

"I switch off"

When it comes to the time of Esmeralda's death, her mother thought she barely remembered anything.

- There are no clear memories. It's like memories, fragments and emotions. When I realize what happened, I don't know what to do. This is why I switch off.

When Esmeralda was found, she had numerous injuries to large parts of her body, injuries that must have occurred on several occasions. The mother denied during the trial that she should have committed some violence against Esmeralda and said she had not noticed the injuries.

Denies having given drugs

Samples after Esmeralda's death showed that she had several drug-classified substances in her body. The mother said that Esmeralda may have received the substances from the table in the living room where the police should have found traces but denied that she should have given Esmeralda anything. She also didn't think her dad had.

- I can't imagine for my life that he has given Esmeralda anything.

The prosecutor pressed the mother about the sms she sent to the father where Esmeralda is referred to as "das mongo" and that she screamed like a "war-damaged child". The mother said that she does not remember that she has written so but that it is about internal humor.

- I had never expressed myself to anyone other than her father.

The mother also pointed out that she and the father have written positive sms about Esmeralda on several occasions and called her "gold cap" among other things.
