It was in the police car that the father tells us immediately after he was arrested: "I do not know how to explain," he says, talking incoherently and in shock.

He sobs and repeats several times that he did not know what to do.

"I think she hit her head, got a concussion or bleeding."

In the interrogation, he says he tried to revive Esmeralda. On several occasions, the father returns to his panic. He states that he has tried to save the daughter in various ways and he hears how she gives off sounds. Dad breaks down again and repeats: “I tried, I tried. I should have called right away, but I didn't think I would be believed ”.

"She's gone, the world's finest girl"

He must have tried to tell himself that he couldn't do anything and that it was an accident.

"It doesn't matter it's just as awful, she's gone, the world's finest girl," says the father, who bursts into tears.

The father also says it took a few hours before he told the mother that the girl had died. "Didn't know how to say".

He says that he and Esmeralda's mother do not trust authorities and he explains that he therefore contacted relatives instead.

"They said, the only right thing is to call," says the father.

He also says that he is not feeling well “I am not doing well, I am feeling very bad. I don't know how to wear this. "
