The spread of the virus is "under control," said Prime Minister Édouard Philippe on Thursday, May 28, presenting phase two of the deconfinement in France. And the figures published in the evening by the Directorate General of Health confirm it: the decline in patients linked to the new coronavirus continues in the intensive care units.

In intensive care, "1,429 patients with a severe form of Covid-19 are hospitalized", according to the press release, ie 72 fewer people compared to the previous day. "Four regions (Île-de-France, Grand-Est, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France) account for 73% of patients hospitalized in intensive care," it said.

France has counted 66 deaths linked to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total balance now stands at 28,662 people.

The figures for deaths in social and medico-social establishments (Ehpad) will not be updated until Friday.
