The Spanish Prime Minister has announced that foreign tourists will be able to come to Spain from July. If health security measures have yet to be defined, Spanish tourism professionals have much to be relieved. Since March, one of the largest sectors of the country's economy has been at a standstill.

It's official: it will be possible to go on vacation this summer in Spain. The country, one of the most bereaved by the coronavirus epidemic in Europe with nearly 28,600 dead, is preparing for the return of foreign tourists from July. In five weeks, therefore, foreign holidaymakers will once again be able to enjoy a paella by the sea in Barcelona or a swim. A sign that deconfinement is progressing well, and synonymous with immense relief for tourism professionals.

"Professionals will get oxygen if tourists start coming again"

Since the beginning of the epidemic, as everywhere in the world, the tourism sector has been greatly impacted by containment. In Spain, it represents 13% of jobs, and this reopening of the borders will be synonymous with the reinstatement of many employees who have been on partial unemployment since March. "This is great news!" Rejoices Marco Exposito, owner of the Blu café in Barcelona. "There are a lot of people living on tourism, bars, restaurants. Maybe they will get some oxygen if the tourists start coming again"
