The spring flood in northern Sweden in 1995 went down to history as one of the greatest of the century. Not least in Sorsele, the consequences of the spring flood were great.

As it is still winter up in the mountains and the snow remains in the woods in their places, there is now a concern that this year's spring flood will be dramatic.

"In the worst case, it may come at the levels that were in 1995," says Jan Fransson, rescue manager at Sorsele.

The rescue service, together with the municipality, has now begun the work of preparing for an extensive spring flood. Among other things, one looks at disaster plans and organization.

- We do not want much heat and rain. We want the water in the forest land to run away first so that it does not come at the same time as the mountain river.
