What is the ecological impact of disposable masks? Difficult to say, for an object suddenly introduced into our lifestyles but for which there is no dedicated recycling channel. The authorities recommend for the moment to throw them in a closed plastic bag, in the ordinary bins. But on sidewalks, paths and beaches, used masks are multiplying, despite health recommendations. Currently, throwing your mask or used gloves on the public highway is liable to a fine of 68 euros. But the difficulty is to be able to verbalize the fact: the police and gendarmes must be near the indelicate at the very moment when he throws his mask to observe the offense. MEPs are considering a tightening of the regulations: the contravention would then increase to 300 euros, which could have a greater deterrent effect.

A very serious bill is also being studied and plans to use video protection, in other words cameras installed on public roads, to effectively sanction these particularly dangerous acts from a health point of view for employees who collect garbage - in addition to their ecological impact.
