It is noted that the main task of the expedition, which worked on board the tugboat, “was to conduct a demonstration experiment to plunge the autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicle Vityaz-D to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

In addition, during the expedition in the waters of the Sea of ​​Japan and the Philippine Sea, the test dives were carried out to a depth of 2400 and 5200 m.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian autonomous underwater vehicle installed a pennant at the bottom of the Mariana Trench in honor of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
