The Prime Minister finally decided: the second round of municipal elections will take place on June 28. A difficult decision, as the political class was divided on the subject, including within the majority. Concretely, this means that the ballot will be organized in the 5,000 municipalities where the first round was not decisive. But how do you campaign in a state of health emergency?

I trust the inventiveness of candidates from all political forces to find ways to get their ideas across.  " In announcing the holding of the second round on June 28 Edouard Philippe returns the ball to candidates . But whatever the political edge, it is not easy to project oneself into a campaign without public meeting, without meeting with the voters, and without towing.

To the question "How to campaign? ", The Socialist Boris Vallaud is a bit dry. "  Yes, it will be special ... There will be digital, media and, I imagine, a lot of imagination ...  "

Campaign only in the media and digital? Not very democratic, for the rebellious Eric Coquerel. “  Virtual campaigns do not exist. Democracy has always been about being able to reach out to people. In the name of economic imperatives, we take the risk of organizing elections, as essential as those of the municipalities, in a minimum framework. What is more, we have a real problem with a second round organized so long after the first. After the economy has collapsed, the system that made this crisis become a social, health crisis, has exploded, we do not make a second round as if nothing had happened! There is something wrong, and I think we really made the wrong choice.  "

Also opposed to the holding of the second round before the summer, the RN Sébastien Chenu also expects the inventiveness of the government on postal voting, proxies, and even on programs. “  Could we perhaps send electoral programs with the professions of faith? I think that nothing should be forbidden.  "

One month before the deadline, there is a fear that the record for abstaining from the first round, where less than one in two registrants had voted, will happen again, Covid-19 obliges .
