The state should test 150,000 people a week. The Moderates' leader Ulf Kristersson said this when he visited SVT's Weekend Studio on Saturday.

Now Lena Hallengren (S) answers the criticism:

- So far, I have not heard Ulf Kristersson present any concrete suggestions as to what he thinks should happen, but we fully agree that we will test many more. We should. Then I see in front of me that we will be approaching being able to do antibody tests and be able to test immunity. When we can do that, we will need to increase testing further, ”she tells SVT.

"The question may be asked to the regions"

There is capacity to do 100,000 coronate tests a week in Sweden. But at present, just under a third of this is done, something SVT has reported on earlier.

Lena Hallengren said at the beginning of the month that by mid-May, Sweden could start testing 100,000 people a week.

What went wrong, why aren't 100,000 people being tested now?

- I think that question may be asked to different regions, in fact, which are the ones that will ensure that there is a test capacity on the ground. But we are constantly making the changes that we get, which increase clarity, that help and support regions and different actors that can help increase testing, says Lena Hallengren.

Defends the Swedish model

Last week, the Financial Times published statistics, with figures from, among others, the European Infection Protection Agency ECDC, which showed that Sweden had the highest per capita death in covid-19 in the world last week.

Lena Hallengren does not see these statistics as proof that the Swedish model does not work, she tells SVT.

- Statistics are not always easy to compare. We also know that we are in different stages of this pandemic. When this pandemic has progressed significantly, we will see what this actually looks like. We do everything we can in Sweden to save lives and health and to make sure that the care and care will cope with the challenge this is, ”she says.
