At the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, the discussion table with the company and unions on the Jabil dispute in Marcianise (Ce) took place in the morning in the presence of the owner of the Nunzia Catalfo Department. The American company - which operates in the production of electronic components and circuits for global hi-tech manufacturers, with 120 factories and 200 thousand employees worldwide - announced 190 layoffs yesterday from Monday 25 May.

Meeting at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies
During the meeting at the Ministry, Catalfo reiterated to Jabil's representative that he immediately dismissed the dismissals of the Marcianise office, as the company, in addition to the one used so far, may request an additional period of layoffs with Covid-19 reason entirely financed by the state, as well as use other tools recently introduced by the Italian government to manage the emergency phase, such as the 'New skills fund'. This is in order to accompany the path already started to relocate redundant workers. The layoffs, therefore, announced by Jabil are "radically null" and it is an "absolutely unjustified" initiative.

After all, adds Catalfo: "Jabil, in resorting to the Cigo Covid-19 , evidently expressed his intention to use an extraordinary and emergency instrument entirely borne by public finance , aimed at safeguarding employment levels in the current emergency situation epidemiological ".

Fim, Fiom, Uilm have proclaimed the strike to the bitter end
The relaunch decree provides for the moratorium of the "layoffs for justified objective reason" foreseen by the March decree until mid-August but from Monday 190 workers employed by the American electronic circuit company will meet without work. In fact, the next 25 May is the deadline to follow up on the unilateral phase of the layoff procedure started on 24 June last year, and, at the same time, the ordinary Wages Guarantee Fund will expire for the Jabil site in Marcianise (Caserta). From that moment, Jabil will proceed to the collective dismissal of the identified employees, "provided that they have not adhered to the relocation and incentive schemes offered".

This is what the company said yesterday through a note. "With the indicated date of 25 May 2020, employment relationships for collective redundancy with 190 redundant employees will necessarily have to be terminated, to whom opportunities have been offered both in terms of relocation and redundancy incentives. This development is in no way so a negative evaluation of the hard work and commitment of Marcianise employees ". The unions Fim, Fiom, Uilm have proclaimed the strike to the bitter end contesting the company's operating methods.

Jabil: "law respected"
Jabil claims to fire with rules in hand, given that the decrees speak of "pending procedures started after February 23, 2020", while those in the Marcianise plant started in June last year when the The company had announced 350 redundancies out of a total of 700 employees, providing incentives for exodus or voluntary relocation to other factories in the area, and motivating the decision with a "challenging economic environment, decreasing volumes, underutilized resources".

In the new ministerial meeting tomorrow afternoon there will be a new discussion with Jabil in which the members of the Board of Directors of the American company will participate
