• Prisons.Interior will bring three other ETAs closer - one condemned for the kidnappings of Delclaux and Aldaya - after the abertzales protests

Since the declaration of the state of alarm , on March 14, communications in Spanish prisons were expressly prohibited, both between inmates of different modules and abroad through the locutorios, to stop the expansion of the coronavirus in the penitentiary environment . However, this Saturday Interior has made an exception and has allowed two relatives of the ETA member Iñigo Gutiérrez Carrillo to visit him at the Picassent prison in Valencia , along with his partner also convicted of belonging to ETA .

Despite the fact that communications in Valencian prisons will not be resumed until next Monday, this noon two relatives of Gutiérrez Carrillo have traveled from the Vaco Country to Valencia to visit him in the parlor after the death of Etarra's father. They have done so thanks to a safe-conduct issued by the Interior that allowed them both to move between autonomous communities and to enter the prison, as EL MUNDO has learned from prison sources.

His partner, the also ETA María Lizarraga Merino , who is in the same prison in the mothers' module with their daughter, has also been able to enjoy the visit in the same call shop, despite the fact that communications between different modules they are also not allowed. In addition, relatives have brought a gift to the girl, thus violating the prohibition of introducing packages from abroad.

These are two of the ETA members who will enjoy the approach of prisoners announced last Monday by the Ministry of the Interior after the protests in the Basque Country and Navarra. Both will be transferred to the Madrid VI penitentiary center , in Aranjuez , when sanitary circumstances allow.

Sentenced to 14 and 20 years in prison

Iñigo Gutiérrez Carrillo was sentenced in 2011 to 14 years in prison by the National High Court in the context of the Vizcaya Command trial for belonging to an armed gang and the deposit of terrorist weapons of war. In 2014, the ETA members who attacked the Calahorra house-barracks were acquitted in the trial, an attack that left eight wounded and caused damages of more than 4.7 million euros in buildings and vehicles parked in the area in 2008.

Gutiérrez Carrillo was acquitted as his intervention in the attack was not sufficiently proven, while the other two defendants, Arkaitz Goikoetxea, alias 'Dulantzi', and former ETA leader Jurdan Martitegi, 'Arlas', were sentenced to 133 sentences and 139 years in prison respectively.

The couple of the Etarra deceased in Picassent, María Lizarraga Merino, was sentenced in November 2010 to 20 years and one month in prison for the crimes of belonging to a terrorist organization, illicit possession of firearms and components of explosive devices, counterfeiting in official document and theft and use of motor vehicle. The National Court also warned of the "threat" that she and Unai Fano Aldasoro represented , both arrested in September 2008 in the French region of Trelins , when they considered that they were preparing an "imminent armed action".
