May 22, 2020 President Donald Trump ordered flags at half-mast for 3 days to pay homage to coronavirus victims. He announced it via Twitter. "I will lower the flags on federal buildings and national monuments for the next 3 days in memory of the Americans we lost to the coronavirus," said the head of the White House. With a similar message he then stressed that the tribute also regards the soldiers who sacrificed themselves for the nation as Memorial Day is celebrated on Monday.

Trump visited a Ford factory near Detroit (Michigan) without wearing a mask against the coronavirus, thus challenging the attorney general of the state Dana Nessel (dem), who had asked him to comply with the laws of the state and the company's policy to protect the health of workers, reminding him of his "not only legal but also social responsibility" and moral to take reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. "

"It is not necessary, I was tested today," he explained to journalists who urged him on this issue. "Before entering here I wore it in the private area, but I did not want to give the press the satisfaction of seeing me," he added . However, there are no images that document it.

All the people who accompanied him, including the top management, wore masks. The facility has been reconverted to produce lung ventilators for covid-19 sufferers.

"Bill Ford encouraged President Trump to wear a mask on his arrival. He wore the mask during the private visit to 3 Ford Gts. Then he took off the mask for the rest of the visit." So the executive president of the Detroit auto company, commenting on the visit to his Ypsilanti plant.

The US will not be locked down even if a second wave of coronaviruses should occur, the president said during the visit.

Trump insists on cutting federal funds to Michigan if he extends the vote in the mail ahead of the November presidential election, while using much more cautious tones. "I didn't say it will be necessary," he clarified on the sidelines of his visit to the Ford plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, "I said it might prove necessary." The head of the White House opposes the vote in the mail, arguing that it would lead to electoral fraud.
