Region Sörmland is currently testing people who are admitted to hospitals, people who live in municipal housing or who have home care or home care. Employees within these businesses who work close to patients are also offered sampling.

Test in Eskilstuna

There is also a test in Eskilstuna where employees in health care with symptoms can go to a place where they receive sampling equipment. The person then carries out their own sampling.

The next step is to extend sampling to additional groups, such as patients in outpatient care and various functions in socially important activities.

Soon for "common man"

When would it be possible for a common man to do a test?
"We are a few weeks away from it and those who do the test must have symptoms," says Sofia Stenlund Wretling, director of the development unit at Region Sörmland.

antibody Tests

Antibody tests have also begun to be carried out on healthcare personnel in the region. So far, 430 people have been tested and 15 percent have antibodies.

"You have to remember that it reflects what it looked like a few weeks ago," says Magnus Johansson, head of the medicine division in Region Sörmland. He continues:

- We have offered everyone who works with or has worked with patients with covid-19. We will offer more employees and we are also looking at offering other groups.

It is uncertain when the public can begin to be offered antibody tests.

- We are looking at it but I cannot answer when it would be possible.
