The Government has tried to relativize its agreement with EH Bildu this Friday, as an assignment that was led by the rejection of the PP and ERC to the fifth extension of the state of alarm decreed by the coronavirus crisis while it has been forced to transmit messages of confidence to employers to return to the framework of social dialogue.

The pact of the PSOE and United We Can with EH Bildu, which was known on Wednesday, about an imminent "complete" repeal of the labor reform, has eroded the credibility of the Executive and has caused the breakdown of the dialogue with the employers.

The spokeswoman and finance minister, María Jesús Montero, has insisted on the line that the economic vice president, Nadia Calviño, already drew this Thursday, and assured that the "dialogue with employers and unions is more important than ever" and that her "The intention is and will be the negotiation of all labor issues raised in our roadmap in the framework of social dialogue."

In fact, the Government now frames the repeal of the labor reform in reality, Montero has explained, the elaboration of a new Statute of Workers in the task of rebuilding Spain after the economic and social crisis that the coronavirus already leaves.

"All the ministers are committed"

It is not only a question of eliminating the most damaging aspects of the PP reform, but of creating a totally new labor framework, adapted to this moment, but also to the changes that have taken place in the labor market.

And it will be done, said the minister, in line with employers and unions and also with state pacts with other political forces, taking advantage of the parliamentary commission for the reconstruction of the country established in the Congress of Deputies.

Although the spokesperson has acknowledged that there are "different sensibilities" in the coalition executive that makes up the PSOE and United Podemos, she has also said that "all the ministers are committed to the programmatic agreement", in which the specific points of the labor reform that will be modified and the will to do so within the social dialogue.

This position leaves without effect the words pronounced this Thursday by the second vice president, Pablo Iglesias, who pointed out that the pact with Bildu - where it appeared that it would be an integral derogation - had to be fulfilled. Different sources consulted already reported that he was referring to the commitment of the pact, not to the details of the labor reform, which are agreed with the PSOE

Montero has not reneged on the agreement with EH Bildu either, but has linked it at all times to the preservation of the health of the Spanish as a "superior good", because "we were playing" the fifth extension of the state of alarm and that, he said, it would have caused that "on Sunday everyone would have left their home as they saw fit, with a real risk of contagion."

The Minister of Finance has not spared a single criticism of the PP for its refusal to support the Government in maintaining the state of alarm while the de-escalation lasts and has hinted that it will request a sixth extension again.

But the most surprising thing has been his string of criticisms of ERC, whom he has accused of incorporating into the debate issues that "have nothing to do" to dispose of his vote, referring probably to the demand for the resumption of the dialogue table between the State. and the Generalitat of Catalonia to solve the Catalan political problem. "Some have voted no, while crossing their fingers because they knew it was coming out yes," he pointed out about the ERC position.

The government spokeswoman has also been very clear this Friday in her messages of reconciliation with the employers, both with the CEOE and Cepyme , with whom after the controversy over the pact with Bildu they have not stopped maintaining contacts.

Montero responds to Garamendi

After the harsh declarations of the president of the employers, Antonio Garamendi , in the interview that this newspaper publishes this Friday, Montero has assured that he particularly knows his sense of state and "he is not a mouthpiece patriot." "He always puts Spain's interests before any other issue, always legitimately defending business interests," he declared, in what has been a continuous call for a return to social dialogue.

He has even claimed to understand that he was "surprised" by the content of the pact with Bildu. According to Montero, it is a training with which "practically everything differentiates us."

We are not "in tune", he said, with parties that do not condemn events such as the violence of a group of radicals on the portal of the General Secretary of the Basque Socialists, Idoia Mendia , on whose website paint has been thrown and leaflets have been left in defense of an ETA prisoner.
