“The joint successful steps and measures undertaken by the country gave us the opportunity to talk about ending the state of emergency, as well as to phase out the restrictions,” said Irakli Chikovani, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Georgia on Foreign Affairs.

According to the agency, the Georgian parliament also adopted amendments to the law "On Public Health", which give the government the right to maintain a number of restrictions until July 15 after the cancellation of the state of emergency.

After May 23, public transport will still not work, long-distance passenger transport will remain prohibited, the villages of strict quarantine will remain the villages of Musevani and Geta of the Bolnisi municipality and the city of Tetritskaro (Kvemo Kartli region).

In addition, citizens of the country will be required to wear masks indoors and not gather in groups of more than ten people.

The republic has closed cafes, restaurants and bars, large shopping centers, shoe and clothing stores, as well as gyms, fitness centers and swimming pools.

Earlier, the National Administration of Tourism, Mariam Kvrivishvili, said that Georgia was the first country in the world to resume the work of the tourism industry from the beginning of the pandemic.
