NATO accused Russia of violating the Open Skies Treaty

“For many years, Russia has introduced restrictions on flights incompatible with the Treaty, including restrictions on flights over Kaliningrad and over the territory of Russia near its border with Georgia,” the statement said.

NATO said that Russia should abolish these restrictions and then, possibly, in the USA they will reconsider their decision to withdraw from the Treaty.

Earlier, the US Embassy in Moscow transferred to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs an official note on the decision to begin the procedure for the United States to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty.

Oleg Morozov, a member of the Federation Council’s foreign affairs committee, told RT that “they are withdrawing from all US treaties because Russia allegedly violates them. So it was with the ABM Treaty, the INF Treaty. Now they are saying the same thing about the Open Skies Treaty. ”
