On May 22, after the opening meeting of the Third Session of the 13th National People's Congress, the first "minister channel" interview event was held, and some heads of relevant ministries and commissions who attended the meeting were interviewed via online video.

Reporter from China News Service: Good Minister Han, we have noticed that the price of pork has decreased recently. Does this mean that the production and supply situation of hogs has improved? Can you tell us something about this? Thank you.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Han Changfu: Thank you for your question. Pork prices have indeed declined recently. The wholesale market has declined slightly for 13 consecutive weeks, down 23% from the peak, and it has dropped roughly 12 yuan per kilogram. Everyone has an intuitive feeling. Regarding the production and supply of hogs you mentioned, I would like to say a few words.

Han Changfu: In the first sentence, the current recovery of live pig production is good, and it can be expected to achieve this year ’s live pig production target. The Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the stable production and supply of live pigs, and have issued a series of policy measures. The local government has also taken a lot of measures and brought out some real money. The government is encouraging the promotion of live pig production. At the same time, in terms of the market, due to the relatively good market and the enthusiasm of the market players, the investment in pig farming is increasing, there are many new pig farms, and the supplementary fence is increasing quickly. The momentum is still very good. We are scheduling the production of live pigs on a monthly basis. Starting from October last year, the number of capable sows has stopped falling and has risen. It has resumed growth for 7 consecutive months. In the previous month, it has increased by 18.7% compared with September last year. 3 months growth. The ability to breed sows and live pigs is the core indicator of live pig production. From these two indicators, the momentum is still good. Following this momentum, it is still very promising to achieve the goal of this year's hog production recovery, that is, to return to a level close to normal levels. We judge that as the production of live pigs resumes, the relationship between supply and demand will gradually improve, and the price of pork in the future market will not increase significantly.

Han Changfu: In the second sentence, it takes a process to completely restore hog production, and all aspects of work will not be relaxed. We have dispatched and monitored that there are still some local policies that support the production of live pigs that are not yet in place, and some provinces still have fluctuations in the recovery of live pig production. The general considerations are as follows:

One is to implement the responsibility. We have already assigned the target task of hog production recovery in various regions. The next step is to supervise with relevant departments to consolidate local responsibilities. It is everyone's business to raise pigs and eat meat, and this work should be done everywhere.

The second is to focus on policy support. The central government has issued 19 policies to support pig production, including pig farming policies, financial credit policies, correction of unreasonable prohibition and restriction policies, etc. These policies must be implemented to mobilize the enthusiasm of enterprises and farmers.

The third is to catch big and small. According to China's national conditions, live pigs raised on large-scale farms accounted for 52.3%, and small and medium-sized households accounted for 47.7%. To develop leading enterprises, through leading enterprises to promote small and medium-sized farmers to jointly supplement the fence and increase their nutrition, while improving the level of epidemic prevention.

The fourth is to prevent and control African swine fever. The African swine fever virus has been colonized in China and is a serious threat to live pig production. It is necessary to continue strict prevention and control, establish a normalized prevention and control mechanism, and prevent, control and supervise the entire chain in pig breeding, transportation and slaughter, and must not allow African swine fever to rebound.

At the same time, we are also accelerating the research and development of vaccines. Recently, we and the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport are launching a "100-day special crackdown action", which is to severely crack down on illegal and illegal transportation of live pigs and resolutely prevent the spread of the epidemic in the live pig transportation. In short, we believe that with these measures in place and perseverance, the pig production and supply situation will definitely improve significantly. In addition, the current production situation of cattle and sheep and poultry is also very good. Through hard work, we will ensure that there is no shortage of meat in the bowl of ordinary people. Thank you.
