(Interview between the two sessions) Li Yanhong: Don't "grab eyebrows and beards" when developing "new infrastructure"

The third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opened in Beijing at 3 pm on the 21st. This year is the 8th year for Li Yanhong, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of Baidu, to participate in the two sessions. This time Li Yanhong submitted four proposals concerning "new infrastructure", intelligent transportation, support for continuing education, and protection of personal information.

On the 21st, Li Yanhong talked about the topic of "new infrastructure" during an interview. He said that the most important thing in the current development of "new infrastructure" is to take advantage of China's system, do a top-level design, and figure out which aspects need to be vigorously done, and which aspects can be lowered in priority.

Li Yanhong believes that the "new infrastructure" involves a very wide range. If you "brow the eyebrows with your eyebrows," it may cause each of the advances to be not fast enough. "Taking the example of improving social production efficiency, how can people get a stronger sense, I want to develop smart transportation, everyone will have a clear perception. This not only promotes economic development, but also improves the quality of people's lives."

In terms of "new infrastructure", Li Yanhong suggested that the country should accelerate the creation of a new type of artificial intelligence infrastructure with international leading level, strengthen the artificial intelligence foundation and application talent training, and promote the active application of independent and controllable open source deep learning platforms in various industries. At the same time, we should vigorously promote the intelligent cloud project and support the construction of an open platform to accelerate industrial intelligence.

How to promote intelligent transportation? Li Yanhong suggested that on the one hand, we should strengthen the exploration of the city's intelligent transportation operator model and encourage regions with conditions to test first; on the other hand, we should accelerate the coordinated and intelligent transformation of the transportation road network. In addition, a nationwide new generation of intelligent transportation management platform should be built to accelerate the formation of a safe and reliable modern transportation management system.

In the interview, Li Yanhong answered the question "How far is the real unmanned driving from us".

Li Yanhong said that the L5 (completely unmanned) level of unmanned driving really takes a relatively long time. It is expected that it will take about 10 years to realize autonomous driving on completely open roads without any restrictions. However, this is a gradual process, and now it has begun to try in some relatively closed parks.

Li Yanhong said that in the highway scene, because there are no traffic lights or even pedestrians, autonomous driving will arrive earlier. In the last mile, when the driving speed is slow enough, the safety factor is improved, and unmanned driving can be achieved earlier.

In Li Yanhong's view, even if fully automated driving technology is mature, it will still take a long time to replace the existing car. (Finish)
