May 22, 2020 43,399 infections from new Coronavirus of professional origin reported to Inail between the end of February and May 15, about six thousand more than the 37,352 of the detection of May 4. The Inail makes it known. There are 171 cases of mortal infection recorded in the same period, 42 more than in the previous monitoring, and about half of them concern health and social care personnel, with health technicians and doctors at the top of the most affected categories .

As highlighted by the third report on the contagions on work by Covid-19 prepared by the Institute's Actuarial Statistical Consultancy, the average age of workers who contracted the virus is 47 years for both sexes, but rises to 59 years (58 for women and 59 for men) for fatal cases. Nine out of 10 deaths, in particular, are concentrated in the 50-64 age groups (70.8%) and over 64 years (19.3%). 71.7% of the workers infected are women and 28.3% men, but the gender ratio reverses in fatal cases. The deaths of men, in fact, are equal to 82.5% of the total. The territorial analysis confirms the negative primacy of the North-West, with over half of the total complaints (55.2%) and 57.9% of the fatal cases. Among the regions, however, more than one in three infections of professional origin (34.9%) and 43.9% of the deaths occurred in Lombardy.

Compared to production activities, the Health and social care sector, which includes hospitals, nursing homes and rest homes, records 72.8% of complaints (and 32.3% of fatal cases), followed by 9, 2% from the public administration, with the activities of the central and local legislative and executive bodies.
