The president of the Referees Committee in Italy hopes that referees will receive more respectable treatment when the first-class football club resumes after stopping due to the Corona pandemic.

In an interview with "Sportiva" radio, Marcello Necchi said, "I hope our behavior will change after this virus, and that the rulers will receive more respectful treatment."

"Did we need the Corona virus to force the players to get far enough away from the referees while protesting the decisions? It is a moral issue, and I hope everyone will understand it," he added.

The Italian government stated that it will decide on the 28th of this month the fate of the league, which has been suspended since 9 March.

"The referees are one of the main elements of the game, and their lack of presence is like playing without a ball. The only thing we have been doing for several months is maintaining our fitness in preparation for a possible resumption of the league."
