France: the second round of municipal elections will take place on June 28, announced Edouard Philippe

French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe announced on Friday that the second round of municipal elections will take place on June 28 on the second. The first round took place on March 15, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.

French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe has announced since Matignon that the second round of municipal elections will take place on June 28. 

Originally scheduled for March 22, the poll was canceled due to containment ordered to fight the Covid-19. In its last opinion to the government, the Scientific Council did not oppose its progress next month.

The Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner, detailed the electoral process. The wearing of a mask will be compulsory for voters, who must respect barrier gestures. 

The first round took place on March 15, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. 16 million French people will elect their municipal councils in 5000 municipalities.
