An underestimated balance sheet

Brazil has known for a few days a record increase in the number of cases and deaths, while the epidemic peak is expected only for the month of June. Figures which are largely underestimated, the country practically not carrying out tests. Result: scientists estimate that the coronavirus balance sheet is fifteen times higher than the official figures.

The epidemic explodes and kills those under 60 more than in the rest of the world. In Brazil, this age group represents 31% of deaths. This phenomenon can be explained by a younger population in Brazil than in Europe, but also because the containment measures put in place are little respected.

The disturbing attitude of Jair Bolsonaro

The Brazilian health system is collapsing and Jair Bolsonaro's government has no answer, or the ones he offers are not reassuring. For example, the far-right president calls on Brazilians to return to work. In addition, he continues the crowd and claims that the Covid-19 was born from the imagination of the media.

It is also difficult to stem a health crisis when a State does not have a Minister of Health. In Brazil, since the beginning of the crisis, Bolsonaro sacked the first, the second ended up resigning, and the third is a general who is only there to take over the interim.
