43 people were killed and 31 injured in a collision between a truck and a passenger bus in North Darfur state, according to Sudanese police.

A police statement said at dawn on Friday that a traffic accident occurred in the Shangali Tobai area of ​​Dar Al Salam locality in North Darfur state, between a truck and a passenger car, noting that the accident resulted in the death of at least 43 citizens and the injury of 31, some of them seriously injured, and pointed to the fire in the truck After the collision.

The authorities have prohibited movement from one area to another since April 16, as part of measures to curb the spread of the new Corona virus.

Car accidents are common in Sudan, and are often the result of poorly maintained roads and poor application of traffic laws.

The World Health Organization said that road accidents killed more than 10,000 people in Sudan in 2018. Three Sudanese judges died and others were injured in a traffic accident in Darfur last Tuesday too.

Last October, a bus collision killed 21 people and wounded 29 in North Kordofan State.
