Yasmine: "That's why I sell sex in rental apartments"

Yasmine says she enjoys selling sex, but she has had a couple of unpleasant encounters, especially when she has been working alone. Once, she was getting robbed and she happens to say no to customers who she feels are uncomfortable. But when she started an Instagram account, she came in contact with other prostitutes.

- A girl wrote to me that she wanted to sell sex together. We decided to rent an apartment and that we would share at all costs. For us it was a certainty to be able to be together, says Yasmine.

The apartment was rented over the net and the plan was to work intensively over a weekend and make a lot of money.

Does it feel right to the apartment owner?

- Hopefully nobody will find out, but if that happens it is not their fault. It is not fair to them, but it is also not fair that we should not organize ourselves that way.

According to the law, anyone who lets people sell sex in their home can be guilty of looting. No matter who is currently on the contract.

- Most of us are scared to sell sex together. If I bring my girl friends here and we sell sex in my apartment, I get problems. I will be penalized for robbery because my friends are in my apartment, says Yasmine.

Ruth Nordström, chief legal officer of the Scandinavian human rights lawyers, explains in a written comment that anyone who promotes or financially exploits that another person has temporary sexual relations for compensation may be guilty of liaison or gross liaison.

Yasmine is a member of the Fuck Association, a non-profit association that works for the rights of sex workers and works to completely criminalize prostitution.

- Since we cannot organize ourselves, there are many areas where there is no respect for us and we receive poorer protection financially and security.

However, everyone does not share the Fuck Association's values. Sara, a member of the network "Not your whore", has been a prostitute and believes that the apartment brothels indicate a structural problem.

- It is mainly human traffickers who hold these brothels and take people from Eastern Europe there. Those with Swedish citizenship usually do not have a pimp, but so do the foreigners.
