Earlier, the representative of the European Commission Peter Stano said that, according to the EC, various “sources from Russia” allegedly spread conspiracy theories and misinformation about COVID-19 in the EU, without giving examples.
“We have repeatedly commented on such allegations by EU officials. We consider them not only baseless, but also unacceptable, ”said Zakharova.
According to her, Moscow considers such statements as "unscrupulous attempts to divert the attention of its own public from the internal difficulties experienced by EU countries in the fight against a pandemic."
She emphasized that “such attacks look especially cynical against the backdrop of Russia's proven business commitment to join forces in the fight against the pandemic with everyone who is interested in this.”
The diplomat noted that Russia, like other countries, is faced with “biased publications” and “frankly fake news” about the epidemiological situation, with a significant part of them being published in the Western media.
Zakharova expressed hope that Brussels "will stop the spread of unproven anti-Russian myths."
