China News Service, May 21 (Xinhua, China) reported that universities in the United States are changing their autumn courses due to the impact of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic.

According to the "Capitol Hill", several famous universities in the United States, Notre Dame University, University of South Carolina, Indiana University of Perdue (University of South Carolina) and Marquette, Wisconsin The University (Marquette University) has informed its students that they will arrange courses in December.

The University of South Carolina canceled the fall holiday originally scheduled for mid-October. The president of the university, Bob Caslen, said in an email to the students that the school will end its lectures on Thanksgiving and plans to schedule two distance learning courses. The final exam will be conducted online.

Marquette University will also end its course before Thanksgiving, giving students the opportunity to move out of their dorms before the holidays. The school's dean Kimo Ah Yun said in a letter to the students that the spring semester in 2021 will be delayed by a week from usual, and the school plans to hold a final exam in May next year.

Notre Dame President John Jenkins said that the school will resume its on-campus courses this week on August 10, and plans to end before Thanksgiving. Jenkins said in a letter to teachers that the university is developing plans to test, track and isolate any students infected with new coronary pneumonia.

In addition, California State University said that many schools in its system will cancel almost all of its courses in the fall.

Kaslan said in a letter to South Carolina students: "These changes are part of what we must accept when we return to work and study on campus, and these changes are essential for us to successfully resume teaching at school."

While many schools are still considering how to resume classes in the fall semester or whether to resume classes, New York University, which is located in the severely affected area, plans to resume its courses in the fall.

On May 19, New York University Provost Katherine Fleming said in an email, "Planning to resume courses in New York and our global campus in the fall (according to government health department instructions)" .

A resumption plan specifically for the fall semester of 2020 will enable students from other countries to attend classes on the nearest New York University campus. The school has branches in China, Spain and Italy.

When American universities reopen, international students who cannot return to campus are a major problem.
