The Community of Madrid already registers 5,929 deaths from coronaviruses or with symptoms compatible with the disease in residences in the region, according to data published this Wednesday by the Ministry of Social Policies. In the past four days, 20 more people have swelled this list.

Since March 8, 7,741 people have died in the community's social centers, which, in addition to the elderly, include those of the disabled or mentally ill. Of the total deaths, 1,217 tested positive for coronavirus and another 4,712 with virus symptoms, although this was not confirmed.

These data, which the Ministry of Social Policies provides to the Ministry of Health every Tuesday and Friday, are not included in the count of deceased newspapers reported by the central government, where it only accounts for those who have lost their lives in the Hospitals with a clinical Covid-19 test or diagnosis.

In Madrid, taking into account the data on deaths in hospitals (8,894), social health centers (5,929), homes (847) and other places such as public roads (24), the number of victims due to the virus already rises to 15,694 .

To date, 14 residences, of the 710 that the region has, have been operated by the Community of Madrid for the "unexpected increase in deaths". In these centers, where 1,448 people live and 1,377 work, 657 residents have died since the start of the pandemic.

The intervened centers are, in the city, Santa Teresa de Jornet, La Purísima Concepción, Usera Residence, Isabel la Católica, Reina Sofía Alzheimer Foundation, Monte Hermoso and San Celedonio; and in the region, Geriatel Rivas (Rivas), Orpea Santo Domingo (Algete), Vitalia Leganés, Domusvi Espartales (Alcalá de Henares), Casa Quinta (Ciempozuelos), Sergesa (Boadilla del Monte) and Las Golondrinas (Robledo de Chavela).
