The Beaugrenelle shopping center in Paris reopened on Wednesday, the administrative court having suspended the closure order issued by the police prefecture in application of the government decision preventing shopping centers of more than 40,000 m2 from reopening in Ile-de -France.

In an order taken in summary proceedings Tuesday, of which AFP obtained a copy, the administrative court of Paris, which had been seized by the real estate Apsys, co-owner of the shopping center located in the 15th district, suspended the decree of the prefecture of Paris police of May 13.

"A useful commercial area of less than 40,000 m2"

“Beaugrenelle responds point by point to the conditions set by the authorities, namely: a useful commercial area of less than 40,000 m2, a catchment area limited to the living area (which is the case in the absence of tourists), respect strict sanitary protocols (which have been carefully anticipated by Beaugrenelle teams) ”, specifies Beaugrenelle's lawyer, Me Vincent Brenot, in a press release from Apsys.

Consequently, Beaugrenelle was able to reopen this Wednesday morning, with the exception of catering and cinema activities which are not yet authorized to do so, specifies Apsys.

On May 7, after Prime Minister Édouard Philippe's speech specifying the terms of the deconfinement, the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire had specified that shopping centers of more than 40,000 m2 in France, the reopening of which was uncertain, could reopen the May 11 "in agreement with the prefects, except in Ile-de-France" due to persistent health risks.

Since, and until July 10, date of the planned end of the state of health emergency, several shopping centers are closed: Galeries Lafayette and Printemps in the boulevard Haussmann district in Paris, the Forum des Halles and Italy 2, Aéroville (Val d'Oise) and Part-Dieu in Lyon.
