On May 20, the press conference of the Third Session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was held. Guo Weimin, spokesman for the conference, briefed the Chinese and foreign media on the conference and answered questions from reporters.

Reuters reporter: With the spread of the epidemic around the world, people in many countries are dissatisfied with China because they believe the virus has spread from China to other countries. Some of the medical materials exported by China have quality problems, and China still publicizes its anti-epidemic assistance to other countries on a large scale, which also makes some people feel disgusted. What do you think about this?

Guo Weimin: I do not fully agree with the judgment you made in your question just now. In the process of combating the epidemic, the measures taken by the international community to combat the epidemic in China, the results achieved, our support and assistance to other countries, and actively promoting international cooperation in combating the epidemic are generally fully affirmed. In media reports, we have seen leaders of many countries, government officials, think tanks, and some organizations. Overall, China's evaluation of China is positive and friendly.

Guo Weimin: Viruses are the common enemy of all mankind. Viruses have no borders, and epidemics do not distinguish between races. The history of human beings in overcoming various major epidemics shows that strengthening solidarity and cooperation is essential. Everyone has also seen that in the recent period, some politicians in a few countries such as the United States have politicized and stigmatized the epidemic, creating public opinion and discrediting China. They claimed that the virus came from China, from Wuhan, and others claimed that China ’s anti-epidemic assistance was "to enhance its geopolitical influence and compete for world leadership" and so on. These politicians either tried to divert their attention and shirk their responsibilities out of domestic political needs, or because of ideological prejudices, accused China and discredited rumors. Such a plot cannot succeed. The Chinese government and relevant parties have made strong clarifications, refusals and responses to this. We have also seen many international authorities, including WHO and some authoritative experts, have come forward and expressed their opposition.

Guo Weimin: You mentioned the quality of medical supplies just now. The relevant Chinese authorities have already conducted investigations, clarifications, and have taken relevant measures. There are some doubts about the quality of the exported medical supplies, for many reasons. Some are due to different quality standards of Chinese and foreign products, some are different in usage habits, and some are improper operations. China exports a large amount of medical materials, but there are only a handful of problems. The Chinese government has zero tolerance for this. Relevant departments have taken strict measures to ensure the quality of medical materials and regulate the export order.
