After the footballers, the footballers' turn: the German women's championship will resume in camera on May 29, after an interruption of almost three months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the German federation (DFB) announced on Wednesday.

The men's Bundesliga already resumed last Saturday without an audience and with strict sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

"I am very pleased that the clubs of the Women's Bundesliga have voted in a large unit in favor of the continuation of the season. It is precisely this unit that we need during this crisis," said the president of the DFB Fritz Keller after a meeting with the clubs.

Women's Bundesliga clubs had already voted by a large majority to continue the season at an extraordinary leaders' meeting on April 30. 11 of the 12 clubs wanted to continue playing, only FC Cologne abstained.

The season will resume on May 29 with a first match at 2 p.m. pitting leader Wolfsburg in Cologne, penultimate.

At the time of the season break, after 16 days, Wolfsburg was in first place in the Bundesliga with 46 points, including 8 ahead of Bayern Munich, second.
