More than 800 employees were tested on Tuesday for coronavirus in a slaughterhouse in Côtes d'Armor following a first report, on May 13, of a patient working in this company and admitted to intensive care, said Tuesday evening the prefecture of Côtes d'Armor and the Regional Health Agency (ARS). Following a first screening operation carried out last Friday on 209 employees, a second operation "took place this Tuesday, May 19 with 818 staff", indicate in a joint press release the two administrations.

So far, 69 cases have tested positive for Covid-19 in this company, Kermené, a subsidiary of the "Mouvement E. Leclerc" which, according to its website, employs 3,400 people at six sites within a radius of thirty kilometers around the central site, established at Mené, near Saint-Brieuc.

After the screening campaign conducted on Tuesday, "in the interim results, all staff are asked to strictly comply with the barrier measures and limit their social interactions. People with symptoms should not go to their place of work and isolate themselves at home. People diagnosed with covid-19 will be contacted by Health Insurance which will identify all of their contacts at risk in order to apply the fortnightly device for these people, as well as the prescription of a test and sanitary masks, "said the press release.
The first series of screenings had been carried out in the "primary cutting" workshop. The personnel concerned by Tuesday's screening were determined by "the company's occupational medicine and the epidemiologists of Public Health France (who) identified the areas of activity being close to the professional sector of these first confirmed cases ", specifies the text.
