FC Seoul, accused of using sex dolls to fill empty seats in its stands, will be subject to disciplinary proceedings this week, South Korean Football League officials said on Wednesday.

The K-League has clarified that its disciplinary committee will be responsible for determining whether the use of these seductive-looking models has violated league rules regarding the promotion of obscene material.

FC Seoul has been criticized for deploying dozens of silicone spectators to partially fill the empty stands during the match against Gwangju FC (won 1-0 by the capital's club), the supporters in flesh and bone having been banned from the stadium because of the coronavirus.

Some models, mainly female models, wore T-shirts or held signs with the logo of a sex toy seller.

The club apologized earlier this week for causing "deep concern" to fans, while insisting that the models were unrelated to sex toys, even reserving the right to prosecute. against the doll supplier according to local media.

Officials will have to decide whether the incident damaged the image and integrity of the League. Failure to comply with these rules may result in a withdrawal of five points or a fine of more than five million won (3,715 Euros).

The South Korean first division K-League resumed on May 8 after more than two months of stopping to curb the pandemic.

To garnish their stands despite the closed door, most clubs used posters, banners or cardboard effigies of supporters.
