20 May 2020From 2 June Alitalia restores the non-stop connection between Rome and New York, flights with Spain (Rome-Madrid and Rome-Barcelona) and direct connections between Milan and southern Italy. The Company will make a total of 36% more flights than in May, operating 30 routes from 25 airports, of which 15 in Italy and 10 abroad. The company reports. For the third quarter of 2020, Alitalia also expects activity to grow to around 40% of what was planned before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The flight offer, the company adds, will increase as a function of the trend in demand, which already allows us to glimpse a recovery on some domestic routes, and benefits from the progressive abolition by foreign countries of restrictions on flights and passengers coming from from Italy, as well as lower disincentive guidelines for travel to our country.

In particular, from Milan Malpensa, the airport where the company will continue its operating activities until the reopening of Linate, in addition to the 8 daily services with Rome Fiumicino, two daily return flights with Bari, Catania and Palermo (except for any extensions restrictions on air transport to and from Sicily currently in force) and 4 connections a day in Territorial Continuity with Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia. While from Rome, after having already increased the connections with Cagliari (from 4 to 6 per day), Alitalia will increase from tomorrow, May 21, also the flights with Catania and Palermo (from 6 to 8 per day) and, in June , will connect the Fiumicino hub with Alghero, Bologna, Bari, Genoa, Lamezia Terme, Milan, Naples, Olbia, Pisa, Turin, Venice and, abroad, with Barcelona, ​​Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, London, Madrid, Monaco , Paris and Zurich, as well as New York. In June and July, Alitalia will also continue cargo operations with China which so far have allowed the importation into Italy of over 70 million protective masks and other medical material (respirators, gloves, goggles and gowns) necessary for the management of the Covid emergency. -19.
