- We have apartments available, but what we lack is a rotation in the housing market. We have many elderly people living in their villas, ”says Skinnskatteberg City Manager Marie Tollefsen Markström.

Attract more to newly renovated apartments

The rental apartments in the municipality are deemed to be in need of renovations. For this reason, a collaboration has been initiated with the State Housing Resolution (SBO), where the idea is that they will renovate existing apartments to new standards.

- With us, we need investment to make the apartments attractive, says Marie Tollefsen Markström.

Social housing is planned

The municipality currently lacks a housing for the elderly, but plans are in place, and a feasibility study has been started. The hope is that construction will start next year.

- It could mean that we got older elderly people into the accommodation or apartments, which would give room for villas to younger families with children that we have a great need for in the municipality, says Marie Tollefsen Markström.
