“The next major American publication is caught on a blatant lie about measures taken by the Russian authorities to combat coronavirus infection,” the diplomatic mission said on Facebook.
They noticed that in an article published in the publication in the section “Opinions” the World Bank charts on the number of hospital beds per 1000 people in Russia and the countries of the Organization for Economic and Cooperation and Development (OECD) were swapped according to 2013 data (8.2 vs. 3, 8).
“Bloomberg editors have sank to an outright forgery ... Any reader can verify this independently by comparing the sources ... We demand that Bloomberg refute, apologize and respect for its own customers,” the Russian embassy emphasized.
The diplomatic mission also attached original data from the World Bank website on the number of hospital beds in Russia and OECD countries.
“Lying about our country is not able to defeat the coronavirus pandemic. Such “tricks” of pseudo-experts in Russia, which shape public opinion in the West about our country, have long become a sad reality, ”Russian diplomats emphasized.
