Tens of thousands of people are forced to leave their homes on the coast of India and Bangladesh, where a tropical hurricane is expected to pull in on Wednesday, causing extensive damage. The hurricane called Amphan is feared to be the strongest storm that reaches India in about ten years and according to India's Metrological Agency, the hurricane brought winds of over 66 meters per second in the Bengal Gulf on Monday night. Wind gusts of 73 meters per second have been measured.
- It is not the wind that is dangerous in this case, explains SVT meteorologist Tora Tomasdottir. Without it, the amount of water will increase very much in an area that is already low.
In the clip above, she explains why the hurricane is so dangerous.
