The two men, 42 and 77 years old, who are suspected of, among other things, gross embezzlement of jewelery handed in to their store in Södertälje, have been released from detention. However, they are still suspect.

- The preliminary investigation is ongoing and we are not at the final stage. I cannot go into what we are doing but investigative measures remain, says Chamber Prosecutor Marie Skeppstedt Törnström.

Police have previously stated that more than 150 reports have been received against the store. In the bankruptcy record that SVT took note of, these are debts to private individuals and companies in excess of SEK 1 million, the largest being to municipal real estate company Telge real estate of SEK 270,000 and to a jewelry company which stated that they have an unpaid debt of 245,000 crowns. Another major debt is to a company in the diamond "capital" of Antwerp in Belgium, for SEK 54,000.

The largest liabilities to individual private individuals are stated to be SEK 79,500 and SEK 45,000.

The only asset that the bankruptcy estate measured at the company, in addition to about 100 jewelery and gemstones that the police seized, is a car that has now been sold for SEK 20,000.

How close is a prosecution?

"I can't answer that at the moment," the prosecutor says.
