It was in January this year that two men - 24 and 25 years old - tried to rob a grocery store in Läckeby north of Kalmar. The men were masked and heavily armed. When the robbery went awry, a customer was bloodied with an ax, and several children who were outside the store were threatened with a revolver.

The two men - who have constantly been denied crimes - are now sentenced to 5 and 2 years and 3 months in prison, respectively.

It is the older of the men sentenced to 5 years in prison. He is convicted on 14 charges, including aggravated assault, attempted robbery, serious illegal threats and serious weapons crime. According to the district court's judgment, he was the driving force in the worst violence.

The 24-year-old is therefore sentenced to prison for 2 years and 3 months. He is convicted of attempted robbery, assault and weapons offenses.
