British low-cost EasyJet Airlines announced in a statement today, Tuesday, that the company was subjected to a "very sophisticated" cyber attack, and that pirates had access to flight details and e-mail to 9 million customers.

The company said in the statement that there was no indication yet of the misuse of the data, but by May 26 all affected customers will have been notified, and added: "If one of the clients is not contacted, this means that his data will not be compromised."

The company explained that credit card details have been reached for more than 2,200 customers, noting that support has already been provided to these customers.
