A fishing party with friends almost turned into a drama in the Côtes-d'Armor, as reported by the gendarmes on their Facebook page. Sunday evening around 10 p.m., a 70-year-old man and three friends met at Pointe des Guettes in Hillion to fish for scallops in the bay of Saint-Brieuc, an activity that is however prohibited.

But an hour later, the septuagenarian was missing. After conducting research, his fishing colleagues then alerted the rescue team. As of 5 a.m. on Monday morning, twelve gendarmes and a helicopter were mobilized in an attempt to find the septuagenarian. At 8:30 am, the latter finally managed to reach his family to tell them that he was safe.

Soaked and stumbling, he finds refuge with an artisan

"Caught by the rising tide, he had the good reflex to let himself drift in water at 12 °", indicate the gendarmes, specifying that the septuagenarian had docked at Martin Plage in the town of Plérin. From there, he walked "drenched and stumbling, for a few kilometers without meeting anyone, to a craftsman's workshop" where he found refuge.

"A misadventure that ends well for this reckless and faulty senior, who admits having been very lucky," conclude the gendarmes.
