The contribution to welfare is SEK 6 billion and will be implemented in an extra amending budget to be submitted to Parliament.

In concrete terms, the grant means that the state will compensate municipalities and regions for costs due to the coronavirus in healthcare, the elderly and the care of people with disabilities.

"Lack of money should not stand in the way of limiting the spread of the corona virus and caring for patients with covid-19," writes the government, C and L in the debate article.

"The government has met us"

Last week, Jonas Sjöstedt (V) demanded an announcement from the government about extra billions for municipalities and regions. The Left Party demanded SEK 25 billion for welfare and without a quick message threatened Jonas Sjöstedt to push through grants with other opposition parties.

Elisabeth Svantesson, economic-political spokesperson for the Moderates, is satisfied with the package now proposed and therefore has no plans to cooperate with the Left Party on the matter.

- Now the government has met us in several ways, and I think that is good. Then I also do not see reason to discuss with the Left Party at the moment, says Elisabeth Svantesson (M).

In the debate article, the January parties urge all municipalities and regions to already plan their activities based on the grant.
