A violent fire is currently ravaging a carpentry shop in the commune of Saint-André-Goule-d'Oie (Vendée), between La Roche-sur-Yon and Cholet. These are the premises of the Guérin company, which caught fire around 3:30 p.m. Sixty firefighters are mobilized to fight against the approximately 1,000 m2 in flame, reports the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis).
The damage is significant. In the center of the industrial site, two tanks of fuel oil are of particular concern to the firefighters. The fire also poses a risk of spread to neighboring buildings. The nearby primary school had to be evacuated.
A total of 14 large firefighters were used, including a large lance and a large tanker truck. Traffic in the commune of Sain-André-Goule-d'Oie is very disturbed. Smoke is visible within a radius of more than ten kilometers.
