A week after May 11, the morale of the French has never been high since the start of the crisis and 67% of them draw a positive balance from this beginning of deconfinement. But the fear of contamination remains very high among the population.

After a week of deconfinement, the French find (a little) smile. According to an exclusive BVA survey for Europe 1 and Orange * published on Monday, 67% of them thus draw a "positive assessment" from these first seven days post May 11. Helped by a first deconfigured and sunny weekend, the morale of the French reached its highest level since the start of the coronavirus crisis. To the question "what mark, between 0 and 10, would you give to reflect the level of your morale today?", The average of the responses reached 6.6.

40% believe that deconfinement has changed nothing in their lives

However, the survey also reveals that there is still a long way to go before finding an optimal situation. If a deconfinement effect is visible in a majority of respondents, 40% of them believe that May 11 has not changed anything in their lives. A finding that even climbs to 50% among French people aged 65 and over, who must be more careful than the rest of the population.

Nearly 4 in 10 respondents think "the worst is ahead of us"

While new clusters have appeared on the territory in recent days, 71% of respondents "anticipate a second wave of epidemic in the coming months, which will lead to a new containment," says BVA. A feeling which also has repercussions within the family unit, since 77% of French people "still fear that they or a member of their family will catch the coronavirus". In general, almost 4 in 10 respondents (39%) still believe that "the worst is ahead of us".

In addition, the French still have a negative opinion on the way the government is managing this crisis, since only 32% say they are "confident" on this point. An indicator that remains stable over the last three scores.
