The Health Directorate in Sohag, Egypt, announced that 117 people were infected with food poisoning cases in the village of El-Issawiya, after they consumed 500 hot meals at breakfast, distributed by one of them.


A statement of the Health Directorate confirmed, on Monday, that the Issawiya village injured 113 people, 60 of whom were transferred to the village health unit, and 43 people were transferred to Sohag General Hospital.

The statement indicated that the village of Shandawil Island, in which 15 people were injured by food poisoning with the same meals, were transferred to the village health unit.

The statement emphasized that all the injuries were minor and a large number were allowed to leave after receiving the necessary aid.
